"As Senior Advisor to 'Trenton’s Bad Bet,' MDF Strategies was instrumental in defeating the Casio Referendum by a record margin. – Bill Cortese, Executive Director, 'Trenton’s Bad Bet'
During the 2016 political cycle, tens of millions of dollars were spent on the statewide ballot referendum known as Question One, which, with mass support from elected officials throughout New Jersey, attempted to expand the gaming industry throughout the state.
'Trenton’s Bad Bet' led the effort to prevent passage of the referendum, and ultimately defeated it by the largest margin in New Jersey history.
MDF Strategies served as senior advisor to 'Trenton's Bad Bet' and was a member of its core strategic team, specifically directing and advising communication efforts, creating and executing its earned media plan, and strategically gaining news profiles and editorial board endorsements around the state. As the only day-to-day New Jersey-based consultant on the team, MDF Strategies advised on state outreach and coordinated the engagement of New Jersey policy experts and stakeholders. Over $2 billion in economic activity and 30,000 jobs were saved through these efforts.
